Who Will Watch The Children When You Go Back To Work?

Posted on

Even before you had children did you know that the time would come when you would re-enter the workforce? Even though your first love is your family, perhaps you are a professional who is also dedicated to serving your community. Or, it might be that your greatest desire was to be a stay-at-home mom, but because of financial stress, you and your husband have decided that it would serve your family well to have a second income, even if it comes from part-time work.

No matter the reason that you are going back to work, your greatest concern is more than likely figuring out the best way to keep your preschool children safe and happy. From arranging for a family member or a friend to do the job to enrolling your children in a child day care center, here are some ideas that might help you.

Keeping Your Children In Your Home - You have more than likely already considered that your children will love staying right at home while you are at work. If that's the case, is there a trusted friend or a family member who will be willing to watch your children for you? If there's enough money for you to offer payment for that service, whoever watches your children will more than likely appreciate earning some extra money himself or herself.

It may be that one of the grandmas or another friend or family member doesn't want to be paid for watching your children. If that's the case, you will probably want to think of ways that you can enrich their life for their generosity. For example, an occasional gift card to a nice restaurant or to a department store might be very much appreciated.

Enrolling Your Child In Day Care - You might have considered that your children would absolutely love going to a child day care center while you are working at your job. For example, perhaps the children attend a special nursery class at church while you are at your own meeting. If they enjoy doing that, it is more than likely that they will be ready and very willing to go to a child day care center. Besides the fun of playing with other children, your own children will be learning skills that will benefit them when they enter kindergarten.

For example, at a child day care center, your children will probably learn things like the sounds of the alphabet letters, thus preparing them for early reading. They will more than likely even learn early math skills when they listen to stories like The Three Little Kittens. In addition, they'll learn classroom manners and classroom rules that will be duplicated in real school.
